At least 75 people indicated through Facebook that they would attend the vigil, and judging by
the crowd, many of them kept their promise.

Pfc. Fisher is the son of Sandy and Bob Fisher, who adopted him when he was 7 years old.

Mr. Fisher said it is difficult knowing Pfc. Fisher is in a prison somewhere near Seoul, South
Korea, after he was sentenced to serve two years for the alleged robbery.

The Fisher family has enlisted the aid of U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, R-11, Hazleton, and U.S. Sen.
Bob Casey.

Mr. Barletta's spokesman, Shawn Kelly, said the congressman is looking into the situation.

Pfc. Fisher's parents, meanwhile, say their main goal is to see their son get out of prison as soon
as he can and return home safely.
HAZLETON, PA - The words on T-shirts worn by friends
and family members and sold to anyone who wants to
help raise awareness of a young serviceman's dilemma
in South Korea say it all: "Free Andre."

About 100 people gathered Saturday (7/30/2011)
evening at Memorial Park in Hazleton to pray for the
release of 22-year-old Pfc. Andre Fisher, an Army soldier
who was serving in South Korea when he was accused of
robbing a cab driver of $88. During a night off base with
several comrades he was falsly accused of assault and
robbery of a cab driver. They issued a court hearing to
which the cab driver was absent for 3 hearings. The cab
driver was finally brought to court stating Andre robbed
him of cash which Andre did not possess at the scene of
the crime! He was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years
based on the the evidence of a grainy video which did not
identify a man. The Army DID NOT provide any legal
support or translators for the hearings.
